I wanted to personally thank you and our committee who put together today's event! Our students (and mentors) had a blast! If you take a look at your face book page, you will see two comments by Chloe Pethen who is one of my students, that sums up what this event meant to our team. I will probably swing by tomorrow around 1 PM to see the how the 2nd round of teams fare...
Thanks again and I'll see you tomorrow at the field!

The buzz around school yesterday was exciting! Our TV class did a morning announcement, we showed off the trophy and spent most of our day talking to the administration, students and faculty about the event! We're going to take a team photo with the trebuchet and trophy and have it framed for display in the HS Lobby. Many thanks again for coordinating this event and we're already planning for next year!
Stay well,
Dave B.
Thanks again

I'm from M.O.R.T. Team 11 and I would like to thank you for the wonderful event this past weekend. My family and I had a great time, we are looking forward to next year's compition. See you then.
Sincerely,
Jesse Van G.
It seems as though the pumpkin slinging was a success, especially with the teams... The younger kids seemed to be enjoying themselves with all the things for them to do. The boy who put on the show with the hoops and juggling etc. was really good! We enjoyed the event except that we were freezing! Thanks again.

Giulia,
It was a BLAST! The kids (and parents) all loved it and are looking forward to next year. My brothers and I are also considering doing it too and challenging our students to try to beat us. I've heard nothing but positive and the media were great.

Thank you so much for the opportunity for letting the Mort Team with Mount Olive High School participate in the pumpkin sling contest this past weekend. It was so much fun and there were a lot of great competitors. We can't wait to come back next year to try and break our record!
Regards,

We had a great time, and my son is determined to come back next year and double our distance!! Glad to hear it is being planned for.
Thanks.

I wanted to thank you for putting together the Pumpkin Sling event. As a participant I had a wonderful time at the Hensler Farm on Saturday. The event went well and I am looking forward to return next year. I also want to thank you for noticing how our team members helped others when needed. I was the adult going from team to team talking with the other competitors. One thing we try to teach the kids is to help everyone so they can compete, no matter what. It is better seeing everyone have a good time not just a few. Again that you for getting this off of the ground and I am sure it will grow and grow. See you in October 2011.
Thanks for all the hard work that you did to put this event together. Though "The Country Pumpkins" only achieved one good throw, we still had a lot of fun and quite frankly I learned alot about trebuchets. I would anticipate that "The Country Pumpkins" will return in some shape or form next year as a high school freshman team with some modifcations to their machine (especially the sling). The girls were more excited regarding the media coverage they received both on Channel 12 and 69, as well as in The Express Times (great photo of the sling ripping)...
...there is a lot of science and mathematics involved in the construction of the trebuchets. Promoting engineering to our youth is something that many engineering companies like to see and participate in. Please also thank the Hensler family for the use of their farm and assisting me and "The Country Pumpkins" with our trebuchet.
Regards,
Nelson A.
Thank you for the event. Even though we didn't do as well as we thought we were going to do. My students really enjoyed this event. My junior (next year senior) already bought plans on his own and is already making a model of one for next year. He is really excited.
Something added for next year, maybe make small models of a castle for each team to hit for bonus points....
...Audience and teams might like to see some destruction of a small model castle and get bonus points for accuracy.
Overall very well run. Thank you again.
Sean
